I know I’ve been in the blogger dog-house for this many times before, but alas life (and my schedule) has hindered me from frequent posting on this here site. For that, I hope you accept my most sincere apology. That being said, I wanted to take the time to update you on what has kept me away from ‘Inside The Makeup Case’ for a few months. The list is long, so I’ll only be entertaining you with the more juicier (and relevant) details.
1. OshaWhat Magazine
If you follow me on Twitter, you may have seen a post or two (or a hundred) on this new online magazine based out of the Durham Region (just east of Toronto). I am officially a contributor for this amazing publication, writing not about beauty, but *gasp* a film column. Utilizing my love of cinema and justifying (to myself) that being a film school graduate went to good use, I am really happy and proud to be a part of the OshaWhat family of writers, artists and all around awesome and talented people.
You can check out OshaWhat Magazine at www.oshawhat.ca
My first articles are linked here and here.
2. Canada’s Best Beauty Talent
Working as a makeup artist for many years, I have become accustomed to being a real “behind-the-scenes” kind of girl. When the new year arose, I promised myself that I would do more things that were outside my box. Obviously, writing a film column for a local magazine was a hell of a good start, but I wanted to try something more in my field of expertise. When I first heard about the Canada’s Best Beauty Talent contest, I knew it was something I’d normally bypass. So in spirit of kicking my own ass in gear, I bit the bullet and auditioned. What do I have to lose? Nothing. I love my current career and anything above and beyond that is an added bonus.
Check out my audition video which was shot and edited by celebrity photographer, Mike Peleshok who is an Oshawa native and all around awesome dude. This guy deserves a lifetime of high fives from me.
3. Work, Work, Work
Between contributing to the magazine, organizing my audition/submission to Canada’s Best Beauty Talent and sleep, the everyday show must go on. I’ve been keeping on the go with so much makeup work both in the salon and on the road for many months now. I’m the only one to blame for my poor time management and so the frequency of blogging has suffered. I am certainly not complaining about my busy life, as being constantly booked for makeup gigs means I’m doing something right and I hope to keep the work coming.
Hopefully this taste of behind-the-scenes shots will satiate your makeup loving need. I’ll be posting more detailed posts for some of these past shoots soon. I’ve been blessed to have the opportunity to work with a bunch of talented photographers, hair and wardrobe stylists and models.
I know excuses are plenty in the world of blogging, but I hope this eases the questions of why I’ve been absent. I am going to be a lot more attentive to the site and continue to share what I can with the beauty loving population my little contribution to the vast industry.
xo
