When I received the Too Faced Sweet Indulgence Kit for Christmas, I couldn’t wait to use it. I immediately fell in love with one particular shade of the sixteen eyeshadows called Cherry Cola, which is a merlot colour with red sparkle. Here is a look I created using it as well as some other treats in the kit.

Angel has an incredible face to work with; her porcelain skin and ethereal features really do make her, well… angelic. It’s no wonder that I’ve used Angel as a model for various projects and have been lucky to collaborate with her on photoshoots where she has done hair. Did I mention that she’s a hair stylist?! Anyways, here is a little look I quickly put together at work one quiet afternoon. Don’t be surprised if you see her gorgeous face in future tutorials that I do. Can you blame me? Meet Amanda. She’s @dirtyskinny on Twitter and my gorgeous colleague at Aquilibrium Salon & Spa, where she is one of the friendly faces at our front desk. When she and her now husband, Clint decided to tie the knot, what a perfect opportunity for her co-workers to be her glam squad for the day. I had the chance to make her up (which, let’s be honest, with a face like that it doesn’t take much) and decided to break it down for you. On Monday I had the pleasure of doing makeup on a photo shoot for Toronto clothing store Dalston Grey, which carries a variety of vintage and contemporary clothing. Owner and buyer, Leah Gust did an incredible job styling model Madelaine in an amazing series of summer and spring fashions. Shot by photographer Peter Chatterton, I can’t wait to share with you the final shots once they are done. Much like I am with gorgeous men, I can’t resist a pretty lip gloss.
Perhaps it was the doing of the mimosa I had at brunch, but after one glance at that Bite Beauty Lip Shine, it was all over my kisser and it was spectacular!
The Canadian brand, Bite Beauty, is a collection of lip products that are infused with the super-antioxidant resveratrol (which is found in the skin of red grapes), food-grade colours and organic shea butter. In the Lip Shine specifically, there is as much resveratrol as you will find in five glasses of red wine (without the hangover, naturally). It truly is beauty that’s better for you!
I picked up the Lip Shine in Pink Grapefruit ($20) which is a soft pink shade with a lot more colour than I anticipated. It feels nice and light on the lips and doesn’t have that tacky/sticky feeling which I personally dislike. My dry lips were nourished and hydrated thanks to time-released jojoba beads and the lack of petroleum in the ingredient list.

As you saw in my last blog post, there was a Davines Woman competition/photoshoot that some of my colleagues submitted to in June. Yesterday was the big show for the Canadian top ten finalists and I was hard at work backstage lending my makeup prowess for the pre-show extravaganza. Working with the creative genius’ Melanie Bourne and Paul Taylor, their vision was edgy, sexy and oozing glamour. Avant-garde hair mixed with an old Hollywood femininity synergized with Dior and McQueen style makeup and the AMAZING styling talents of Rebecca Mezger. The models were just stunning and the team pulled together a fantastic, high-energy show that was a definite crowd-pleaser.
Naturally I was snapping shots backstage in my usual paparazzi mode, so here are a few of my favourites.

Okay, I know it’s been what seems like an epic hiatus from blogging. Many apologies for my absence. The summer has brought on many blog posting obstacles such as an overwhelming amount of bridal work, teaching, general summer shenanigans and a phenomenal photoshoot for the Davines Woman competition.
It’s no secret how much I love and respect all my colleagues and am always finding inspiration in their craft. It’s always a pleasure to have the opportunity to collaborate with them on a photoshoot and construct makeup looks that synergize with the beautiful hair they create.
