product: davines sea salt primer no. 14

I love having curly hair. However, like most women who have waves and curls, comes the inevitable quest to perfect styling our textured locks. For me, my favourite look is that beachy wave. My bathroom is swarmed with hair products to smooth, define and hold. Granted, they make my curls look fabulous but not quite ‘beachy’.

One of my colleagues suggested a new product that we carry from the Davines line, the Sea Salt Primer.  At first I was hesitant. It claimed to give the hair a matte finish which was unheard of seeing as most of the products I’ve ever bought were to give me oodles of shine and gloss.  Alas, I am the type to put faith in my co-workers because they have never made my hair look anything but fantastic. As soon as I misted this primer onto the roots of my curls and scrunched it in, I started to notice the change. My hair seemed to be getting some fullness and body. The beachy effect was certainly coming into fruition; my hair had a slight ‘uncombed” look but in a good way. Finally I had found the golden ticket to full, soft, messy and fabulous curls.

How I use it is on dry hair that I have diffused using a curl serum or styling cream. (I use I.C.O.N Mesh). After I’m dry, I spritz 3-4 pumps of Sea Salt Primer onto the roots of my hair and scrunch it in and strategically  ’mess’ it up. For added volume, apply heat after spraying using a diffuser.

And don’t worry, this product doesn’t smell of the ocean as one might think. It has a surprisingly delicate essence of what I think is vanilla.  So go on ladies! Try this primer out – it’s the beach in a bottle!
